Jewel Changi Airport, Iconic & Instagrammable

Iconic, majestic, impressive, instagrammable, stunning, beautiful, mesmerising … these are just some of the adjectives that came to mind entering into the iconic Jewel Changi Airport, right through to the centrepiece, which is termed as the world’s tallest and largest indoor waterfall. The HSBC Rain Vortex is surrounded by a terraced forest setting, stands at 40 metres or 130 ft high. In the evening, the waterfall’s circular walls becomes a 360-degree stage for a light-and-sound show.

I’d think that Jewel Changi Airport is one of the many attributes of Singapore that local Singaporeans are proud of. With its strategic location connected to Terminals 1, 2, and 3 at the Changi Airport, it’s so easily accessible to travelers who arrive in Singapore as well as to Singapore residents by all sorts of public transport. The development itself has a retail mall with lots of dining options, a hotel, gardens and attractions (on the top floor).

I was just having a leisurely brunch on a Sunday afternoon, and found many of the restaurants there feature the Rain Vortex as their background. It’s really quite an experience, somewhat romantic if you are on a date, and also definitely instagrammable. Just shopping in the mall where one can find major brands and retailers such as Zara, Mango, Tokyu Hands, and etc. And walking up the forested stairways viewing the Rain Vortex make a fun activity on a weekend afternoon. I easily spent about 5 hours and really enjoyed every single minute I was there, of course taking tonnes of videos and pictures.

And every corner and storey within Jewel Changi Airport showcase the Rain Vortex differently. I also found some really cool bars and restaurants at the top level of the mall. There’re also the ticketing entrance to the Canopy Park (SGD 5 per adult), Canopy Bridge (SGD 7 per adult), Manulife Sky Nets, and etc, that are all fun to experience. Especially the Canopy Bridget which is suspended 23 metres above ground and glass bottom walkway at the centre portion, at some point, it’s like walking among the clouds.
